Late Cretaceous 67 Million Years Old

Name: Nanotryannus

Type: Carnivore

Size: 5 meters in length.

Nanotryannus meaning 'dwarf tyrant', is a problematic genus of tyrannosaurid dinosaur, and is possibly a juvenile specimen of Tyrannosaurus and is represented only by a small skull that lived around 72.1 to 66 million years ago. The basic difference between Nanotryannus and Tyrannosaurus Rex is that Nanotyrannus had more teeth in its upper and lower jaws than an adult Tyrannosaurus and the presence of fused bones. It had 14-15 teeth on each side of the upper jaw (maxilla) and 16 teeth on each side of the lower jaw whereas T. rex had 11-12 tooth positions in the upper jaw and 11-14 in the lower. They hunted in pairs or packs to take down the large game of the Late Cretaceous, such as ceratopsians and hadrosaurs.
