They are made of thin slices of a colorful agate that has been polished on both sides. Agate slice butterflies are very decorative and makes a fine gift for that person that is hard to buy for. The agate slice butterfly is hand made in Brazil. Some of the natural agate slices have banding, called banded agate, while others have swirls in the natural stones. This material silulates the natural butterfly. The thin agate slice butterfly has the agate "wings" fastened to a metal center body and has wire legs and antenna. Way cool!
