Indian artifacts - arrowheads - Milky quartz

This is two 8" X 10" Ryker frames containing a total of 48 authentic Indian artifacts. All of these are made of a white milky quartz. Lots of them are broken pieces. Some are scraper blades. Even the whole arrowheads are not of great quality. Here in Middle Georgia, whit quartz is about the only material found for use by early man. In the northern part of the state there are large deposits of chert and flint. From about central Georgia south, there are deposits of a good quality of chert. When we find arrowheads or other artifacts here around the Atlanta area it is almost certain that the material came from either north or south Georgia.

It is my guess that the Indians that inhabited the areas in north and south Georgia traded the tool making material with the indians inhabiting Central Georgia. Occasionally we will find arrowheads or other artifacts made of a black flint or a cream to brown chert. When we find those we know the raw material came from outside the central Georgia area.

Milky quartz, as it is found here in Central Georgia, is a very hard and tough material for trying to make items from.
