M899 - Selenite "Rose", Mexico.

Selenite is a form of Gypsum composed of hydrous calcium sulfate. The mineral is named for its resemblance to rose blossoms due to its intergrown blade-like Selenite crystals that form a rosette with "petals" that are dark beige in the center (due to the presence of sand) and white on the edges. Selenite roses are found in locations where hot, dry desert conditions exist, such as in parts of California, Egypt, Libya, Mexico, and Saudi Arabia. Every rock and mineral collection should have one of these selinite rose crystal formations.
