Silicon specimens,USA.
Shiny, silvery, Silicon specimens.
Silicon (Si) is extracted from quartz
(Silicon Dioxide). It is a light chemical element that
combines with oxygen and other elements to form silicates.
Silicon in the form of silicates constitutes more than 25%
of the Earth's crust. Silica, as quartz or quartzite is used
to produce silicon ferroalloys and silicon metal. Silicon
is the principal component of glass, cement, ceramics, and
most semiconductor devices. Silicon is commercially prepared
by the heating of high-purity silica, such as quartz crystals,
in an electric arc furnace using carbon electrodes.
Made is USA.
