Danburite is a
Calcium borosilicate, of the Tectosilicates group. Hardness
7. Danburrite develops in hypothermal veins, where it is associated
with quartz, cassiterite, fluorite, and orthoclase, and in
contact metamorphic rocks, where it occurs with andradite,
wollastonite, and sulfides.
Danburite is so
named because its first discovery was in Danbury
Connecticut, USA. That site has since been covered over by
the
spread of the city.
Danburite is of
interest only to scientist and collectors. From San
