Olivine Peridot - Magnesium Iron Silicate - Igneous Rock - Mineral Specimens - Fossil Specimens
These beautiful, green, semi-precious gemstones are from Arizona, where there is a collecting site for volcanic "bombs" containing the peridote crystals.
Peridot is a type of Olivine. Peridot is often found in lavas and in periodotite xenoliths of the mantly, which lavas carry to the surface. Gem quality peridot is somewhat rare and only occurs in a fraction of lavas and xenoliths of the mantle.
These 3/8" to 1/2" specimens have been tumble-polished and mounted in a "perky" (thumbnail) box for display in your collection.
These are really beautiful thumbnail specimens! Easily removed from the putty holding them, they can be set into wirewrap or other jewelry. Then you have a nice box left over to put bugs and stuff in.
