M731 - Alabaster, Pink (Utah) Alabaster is a fine grained variety of gypsum. Because of its fine grain and softness, it is very suitable for carving. It is used for making beautiful artistic sculptures and pottery. Alabaster, and gypsum in general, is porous and easily dyed, but this alabaster is not dyed; it is a natural, pretty, translucent pink.
