M636 - Hematite is a primary iron ore and one of the most common minerals on earth.  Specular Hematite is one of most hard iron ore forms.  It has relatively course-grained micaeous plates with a bright metallic mirror-like sparkle.  Hematite ores were discovered and are still mined in the iron ranges of Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  If you look at one of these specimens in the sun it appears a dark blueish color with lots of sparkle.   Unusual specimens.  Michigan.
