Chrysoprase, chrysophrase, or chrysoprasus is a gemstone variety of chalcedony (a cryptocrystalline form of silica that contains small quantities of nickel. Other members of the cryptocrystalline silica family include agate, carnelian, and onyx. The word chrysoprase comes from the Green word "chrysos" meaning gold and "prasinon, meaning green. Hardness 7.

 

Chalcedony is very hard and most of these specimens are good cabbing material.
