M544 - Sphalerite / Calcite from Tennesee.

Black, shiny, metallic looking sphalerite crystals.

When held up to a bright light source, the crystals are a red transparent color, like a garnet crystal. Many specimens are studded with clear, yellow calcite crystals.

Really beautiful stuff!

Some of these specimens show orange spots under a long wave ultraviolet light.
