Marcasite, Czech Republic
Its brassy yellow color is paler than
that of pyrite and darkens with exposure to the air. Marcasite is
somewhat unstable and decomposes readily on exposure to the air.
Commonly forms from acidic solutions permeating beds of shale, clay,
limestone, and chalk.

These specimens show a coxcomb or sphear
crystal pattern. We have coated this batch with a coat of clear acrylic
to prevent their exposure to air and to stabilize them.
