M162 - Karachi
Pakistan
Salt rock that has been ground into the
shape of a chicken size egg. This material was mined from about 300 feet
under ground near Karachi, Pakistan. The color of this material is
caused by the salt-loving bacteria, halobacteria, that populated the
water that this salt formed from when it evaporated.
Don't worry, the bacteria are quite
inactive and harmless to people. We have sprayed this batch with a light
coating of clear acrylic to make them more stable and keep them from
turning chalky later.
