M131 - Quartz - Cactus (South Africa). Silicon Dioxide. Hardness 7. From South Africa. Beautiful specimens of "Cactus" Quartz Crystals. Unusual. These specimens look as though the large inner crystal formed and then a second stage of "growth" or formation covered most of the outside of the inner crystal with smaller quartz crystals. Most of these specimens show just the very top of the larger/inner crystal point sticking out of the grouping of smaller points. Some of the specimens are slightly smoky
quartz but most are the whitish quartz crystals.
