They have nice color and different linings... some with white druse quartz, some with amethyst, some with white druse quartz sprinkled with small black specks, etc.

These are really nice specimens. They will compliment any rock and mineral collection. From Brazil, South America.

The on-line Free Dictionary: http://www.thefreedictionary.com/geode states that a 'GEODE" is "a small, hollow, usually rounded rock lined on the inside with inward-pointing crystals. Geodes form when mineral-rich water entering a cavity in a rock undergoes a sudden change in pressure or temperature, causing crystals to form from the solution and line the cavity's walls."

Geodes are geological rock formations which occur in sedimentary and certain volcanic (Igneous) rocks. Some "geodes" are completely filled with crystals, being solid all the way through. These types of geodes are called nodules.

When breaking geodes open Ray has found a few that were filled with water, which dates back to when the rock was formed. Very interesting!
