Apatite crystals - gem quality Apatite crystals - mineral Apatite
Apatite is a group of phosphate minerals which includes: fluorapitite, chlorpatite, hydroxylapatite, carbonate-rich apatite and francolite. Apatite is a source of phosphorus and is used in the manufacture of fertilizer, especially tobacco. Occasionally gem quality apatite is found and is used as a gemstone. Apatite is also used as an index mineral of Mohs hardness scale, which has a hardness of five.

Apatite is found in a variety of colors including green, brown, yellow, violet, colorless, blue. Hexagonal crystal system.
