Citrine is a variety of quartz whose color ranges from a pale yellow to prown. Natural citrines are rare. Most of the material on the market today that is being passed as citrine is a heat treated amethysts or smoky quartzes. Citrine, when cut is nearly impossible to tell from yellow topaz visibly, but they differ in hardness. Citrine is a 7 on the Mohs hardness scale while topaz is much harder, measuring 8 in hardness. Brazil is the leading producer of citrine. The word "citrine" is derived from the Latin "citrina", which means "yellow". Sometimes citrine and amethyst can be found together in the same crystal, which is then referred to as ametrine.
It is claimed by the Metaphysical world that CITRINE is known as the "success stone" because it promotes success, prosperity, and abundance. It is said to particularly promotes success in business in business, earning it another nickname, "merchant's stone", and is said to bring business if put in the cashbox of a shop or carried. It is further stated that citrine dissipates negative energies of all kinds. As we have not conducted any scientific test in regards to the metaphysical aspects of citrine we make no claims as to the properties of the stone.
