Jasper is a variety of quartz. Hardness 7. Jasper comes in many colors such as red, yellow, green, brown, tan, gray, and an array of these colors and sometimes appears with banding. Jasper is an opaque variety of quarts. Jasper is a semi-precious gemstone and has been used in the making of beads, cabochons, carvings, and many other uses because of its ability to take a high polish. Jewelry and items made of Jasper have been found that dates back nearly 5000 years old. American Indians used quarts in all its varieties, including jasper for making arrowheads and other tools.
The Bible tells us that in Heaven: (Revelation 21:18), we read, "And the building of the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass."
