Nephrite - calcium-magnesium - silicate - Jadeite - silicate of sodium and aluminum - metamorphic rock - Jade Polished Stones

Highly polished stand-up display specimens of Pakistan Jade. Believed to be from the Himalayan Mountains. The two main types of jade and Nephrite and Jadeite.

Jade has been mined and prized by man for at least 7,000 years. Many societies have valued jade to be of special symbolism for thousands of years, from healing, good luck, religious, ceremonial, and ornamentation. Also used by early man for its toughness in making stone tools and weapons. Today jade in all of it varieties and colors is prized as a gemstone, is used extensively in making beads, and for making stone carvings. Jade come in a variety of colors, including green, brown, black, white, grey, yellow, and orange and in delicate violet tones. Jade has a hardness of 6.5 to 7.

Nephrite is a calcium-magnesium silicate. Jadeite is a silicate of sodium and aluminum. Metamorphic rock.
