Cherry quartz is a very popular manufactured type of glass, make from melting sand at high temperatures and infusing the color into the liquefied material. No two specimens are alike. The colors vary form piece to piece. Many items, including beeds, cabochons, crystal points, spheres, eggs, and other items are being made in this very unusual and popular process.

On many cherry quartz items you can find small bubbles inside the item from where the sand was melted and let to cool True quartz rarely has bubbles inside. (Although I do have an enhydro quartz crystal in my personal collection with a water bubble inside!).

Cherry quartz comes in colors from nearly clear to a deep red. Some cherry quartz specimens have swirls of red within the piece.

Specimen measures 5-3/4" diameter and weighs 8.0 pounds.
