GET RID OF THOSE BUCKETS!
by Ray Hill
For years now I have been going on field trips and have been hauling buckets full of rocks back to our house. For the first couple of years it wasn't a problem ... you know, a bucket here, one there. But after 10 years of collecting ... well, it does become a problem!
I had a row of buckets in the carport (right where I had unloaded them from my truck upon returning from a trip), 10 to 12 buckets in the storage building, five or six on the back porch, 28 in the shop building, and a few more scattered around. It HAD gotten to be a problem! So finally, Ms. Betty, my lovely wife, put her foot down and said "You've got to GET RID OF THOSE BUCKETS!"
So... after some careful deliberation, I hit upon the idea of how I could get rid of all those buckets. I decided to build a fence, or wall, and display my treasures all at the same time. The result was a fence built using eight inch concrete blocks and 2" x 10" pressure-treated boards. I was able to empty all those buckets, make Ms. Betty happy and show off my finds at the same time.
Here are a few pictures of my rock fence.
