Two-pound bag of rough semi-precious gemstones. All from Madagascar. All of the stones are between 1" and 1-1/2" in size and would be great for tumbling your own gemstones or for lapidary work. The stones shown in this photo are wet in order to show their true colors. Really nice material.
There are twelve different gemstones in these bags: Amazonite, Amethyst, Apatite, Desert Jasper, Girisol Opal, Green Opal, Labradorite, Petrified wood, Red Jasper, Rose Quartz, Septarian, Yellow Jasper.
These rough semi-precious gemstones come from a small factory in Madagascar that produces a number of different items from the stones such as stone eggs, spheres, cabochons, faceted gemstones, stone carvings, tumble polished gemstones, and other items. Once polished, these rough semi-precious gemstones show their natural color.
For literally thousands of years man has been using various kinds of stones, as tools, such as arrowheads, spearheads, knives, drill points, hammers, axes, for harvesting and grinding their food, and many other uses. Early man found that certain types of rocks could be chipped to change the shape of the stone into whatever shape desired. It's a fact that the advancement of the human race was quickened by man learning how to shape and use stones. As far back as 20,000 years ago, man has used natural crystals and certain types of stones for personal adornment like in making rings, necklaces, and other items.
The stones shown here are used widely in all types of jewelry today. Enter most any jewelry store today and will find some of these stones cut, polished, and inserted into gold, silver, and other items.
