F981 - Yep, dinosaur do-do. About 100 million years old. Don't worry ~ there's no smell!
Most likely from herbivores due to the plant matter and seeds identified by scientists in this material.
Piles and pies this large were from larger species such as sauroids, duckbills and triceratops.
These specimens are in their natural condition except they have been cut and a high polish applied to the cut side.
They fossilized by replacement, with the original material being replaced by silicon and other elements to form jasper. As is common with jasper, there are many colors.
This material is quite hard and takes an excellent polish. It is great for slabbing and cabbing. Beautiful jewelry can be made from... yep... dino do-do. Ray has a belt buckle made from it.
