- Ortheoceris Sphere
Black marble with fossil orthoceris. The
orthocerids are the most common of the straight or slightly curved
Paleozoic cephalopods. Lower Ordovician through Upper Trassic.
From Morocco.
The white fossils you see in the stone
is the fossilized outer casing/shell of the orthoceris. Squids and
cuddlefish are modern decendants of the the orthoceris.
