Agatized Sea Coral - Florida

.  Subsequent earthquakes and tidal waves broke the coral from the reef.  As years passed, layers of silt deposited over the coral.  Due to a unique mineral content of this matrix, the coral went through a process similar to petrification, whereby the coral was replaced by silica, which turned into agate, producing these beautiful geodes. These specimens are unknown in any other part of the world.  Thus,it has been declared the official stone for the State of Florida.
