Belemnite Rostrums

The rostrum is a strong, hard, projectile-like shell that was internal in the living animal. The rostrum is usually the only part of the animal that fossilized.

F1131 - Belemnites were squid-like animals, probably closely related to the ancestors of modern day squid and cuttlefish.

They were widespread in North America in the Cretaceous age.
