FR170 - This is a reconstruction of the foot claw (pes claw) fossil as it would have appeared in life with the keratin sheath.
Utahraptor, like Velociraptor and Deinonychus, belongs to the family of dinosaurs known as dromaeosaurs, growing as large as 7 to 9 feet tall, and 16 to 18 feet long.
This animal was especially remarkable for its unusually large hand claws and its single, giant sickle claw on each foot. Some scientists think that Utahraptor and other dromaeosaurs may have hunted in small packs.
