Volcanic glass - Apache Tears - Natural obsidian
Natural obsidian (Volcanic glass) nodules from Superior, Arizona. Commonly referred to as Apache Tears. Near the site in Superior, Arizona where these nodules are found is a large plateau from which a number of Apache Indians leaped, rather than surrendering to the US Calvary back in the mid 1800. For many years after this event, the descendants of these dead Indians would go to the location and weep over the bleached bones on those fallen braves.
